Work Planned Week of May 9th - May 15th.

From Shawmut Design and Construction:

  • Begin removal of the remaining portion of the one story building under a demolition plan approved by the Department of Environmental Protection, which is in accordance will all local, state, and federal regulations.

  • During demolition operations, vermiculite insulation was found in between the cells of the CMU block wall. The insulation was sampled and found to be less than 1% asbestos content by point counting. Nevertheless, as a conservative measure, a nontraditional work plan is required to dispose of the CMU block. The vermiculite has been removed using full containment and traditional methods.

  • The quantity of affected CMU block wall is estimated at 4,500 SF.

  • New Roads shall provide all necessary labor, materials, equipment and resources for the removal and decontamination of all identified materials.

  • All work shall be performed in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

  • The anticipated duration of this scope of work is 2 – 3 weeks.

Additional information about what’s happening during the 599 demolition phase can be found in the FAQ section of this blog.
